Corruption in the Government; An Overview

My former professor once said " Public Office is a Public Trust", the professor is no other than the fomer Commissioner of the Commission on Audit on which he served almost half of his life in the public service. He was a great teacher in so far as the entire discussions on the different subject matter is concern, he always has an opnion on anything that concerns the government particularly about the corruption issues in general. There was even one time when we were debating on the credibility of the country in the international arena of course putting into the picture the massive and large scale graft and corruption that is visible in any government office. I personally would tell that this thing is no longer a disease but its already like a cancer that is too far for eradicating but the real time solution is just to lessen, if we still wanted to. I am not telling that there is no good people behind the bureacracy because i know there is and there are people who wanted to make a difference. Like the auditor, Ms. Heide Mendoza, who is the recent eye witness for the alleged AFP corruption. She was been interrogated during the hearing today and i was touched by her courage of coming out in the open to expose the misconduct and graft issues behind the office of the Armed Forces. I was shocked by the amount she was mentioning and totally amazed of how she was so sure of what she was talking. I realized it isnt just a penny that government is spending and wasting for the government officials who just use the office for their respective personal agenda. I am saddened of the fact that these ordinary people who are faithfully contributing to the government through their taxes were just wasting their money and is just directly putting it in the pocket of selfish government officials who has no soul of using the public money as if their own. I wanted to condemn these officials of misappropriating public funds and saddend by the fact that the Audit department of these country is not that effective and credible anymore. It is indeed true that no matter how we try to save the world in our own little way when we are also sorrounded by larger number of people who has selfisg agenda than selfless deeds, then our ambition of changing the institution will surely be overtake. However, i am still hopeful that the generation to come will have more patriotism towards teh country and aim for a change. A change that will not just change or eradicate corruption but in a larger scale will aim for a change in the system and in the government in general.There may be two roads of principles in this life, ive taken the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference.

Public Service

Oftentimes the word public service is quite overused not only by politician but by people who wishes their seat too. As a public administration graduate, i have been taught of the concept of public service and as i encounter several circumstance of the political arena. I find it too difficult to match the concept of this thing to the real world. The mismatch of understanding came from different experiences that i have personally enocunter. To name some, i have known few people who just wanted the elective post for personal gain. Nevertheless, who among those people dont have personal agenda, they all have but at least some had few stuff to share and have done or will do something to alleviate the conditions of their respective constituents. But what is worst, is to came across with people who doesnt work at all but just used the position for augment in their financial stability. In fact, many have meet both end because of such post. I knew we cannot blame those people to give the service we are all aiming for because of the prevalent vote buying that is happening during elections. But still, i wanted to challenge those people in the post to give service to their contituents rather than to be served. To give rather to receive and to show real leadership rather than be cowards. Be the best example to the people and be a good follower coz once and for all, leaders are good followers. I hate to admit that sometimes people elected those that cannot even follow what the law requires and abides by its rules. Public office is a public trust. If i cant trust the servant much more can i trust the position.

A Nations Dream: Noynoy for President

When i logged in a few minutes ago, my yahoo insider highlighted the news about the announcement of Sen. Noynoy Aquino running for president. I cant help but smile and i am so happy on his decision, i guess its not only me but most of the Filipinos feel a strange hope for a progressive philippines. If youve followed my posts, i have wrote here one time about my a petition for Sen Noynoy to run for president, I actually sign the petition and i always make sure to leave comments whenever i pass by on site about Noynoy Aquino. Though i knew his path is still as difficult as accepting the passing of the former president but nevertheless i knew if every filipino would come out of the open and do somethin else for a great difference, President Noynoy will surely have a lansdlide victory. I promise to campaign for him, in my place, in my circle of friends and to those whom i know personally. THis is the first time i felt i am fighting for a brother, this is also the first time that i am so concern about my native land. Hope his announcement will paved the way for a brighter tomorrow.

Please vote, Sen Noynoy Aquino for president.

Independence day

Today marks the celebration of 111th Independence Day. Its actually observed as a National Holiday in honor of the proclamation of Philippine Independence last June 12, 1898 where Filipino revolutionary forces was able to gain indepence and sovereignity of the Philippine island under the colonial rule of Spain. after the battle which the latter was defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay and Spanish - American war.

However, the recognized freedom and independence which was later on recognized by the American government was formally acknowledged on July 4 1946.

Our National Flag: what is signifies?

The national flag of the Philippines is a horizontal bicolor with equal bands of blue and red, and with a white equilateral triangle based at the hoist side; in the center of the triangle is a golden yellow sun with eight primary rays, each containing three individual rays; and at each corner of the triangle is a five-pointed golden yellow star. The flag is displayed with the blue field on top in times of peace, and with the red field on top in times of war.
The Philippine flag was first conceptualized by General Emilio Aguinaldo in 1897 during his exile in Hong Kong, drawing inspiration from the flags used by the Katipunan and the Cuban revolutionaries. The first flag was sewn by Marcela Agoncillo, her daughter Lorenza, and Doña Delfina Herbosa de Natividad, niece of José Rizal, the Philippines' national hero. Act 1696, known as the Flag Law, was passed on September 6, 1907. This law proscribed the Philippine flag and banned the use of the Philippine national anthem. In 1919, Senator Rafael Palma sponsored the Senate Bill No. 1, a bill repealing the Flag Law of 1907 following Gov. Gen. Francis Harrison’s recommendation that the law should be repealed since the distrust between the Filipinos and the Americans no longer exists.[1] On 24 October 1919, Act No. 2871 was approved and signed by Gen. Harrison; thus, the Flag Law of 1907 was repealed.[1] The use of the National Flag and other Heraldic Items of the Philippines is regulated by the National Historical Institute by mandate of Act 8491.

Recession?

This has been the most popular word nowadays, ive kept on askin my friend what is this, but seems she did not explained it clearly,hence heres an economic view of what this word means:

Recessions = this is the term for "a period of reduced economic activity"; a significant decline in the economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normaly visible in real GDP growth, real personal income, employement, industrial production and wholesale retail sales.

hmmmm, sounds serious? well definitely it is, because nearly 2000 people have been declared unemployed somewhere in Laguna due to closure of Intel company.,this is because of recession.

Financial Crises

When the news booms that Iceland was facing a deep financial crises, it spearheaded the news on different countries and banks having difficulty stabilizing their respective economies. However, it not only other countries abroad who is facing such threats but our land too, its just so sad that a lot of business faces financial threats today due to to global crises that we are facing nowadays, thu the government is looking for means to address and alleviate the condition of the economy, still its not enough to prevent the closure of the private sectors, Say for example, in the poultry industry, this year will be a tough year for us because of the coming of the leg quarters, which was exported by some local source to compete with the current market, so what will happen is that our local producers will really had hard time stabilizing the prices at the market considering the expensive cost for raw materials, The consumers on the other hand will of course choose to buy cheap chicken in the market and these companies will have no choise but look for other avenues to compete with the latest trends in pricing, What i am trying to fugure out is the fact that, we should learn to ptotect our local investors in the country, the free trade policy should be reconsidered if we are really protecting our people from the unemployed dilemma, we should always try to look the other side of the picture.

The basic role of Government is to protect both sides, and as much as they want to protect the consumers, they should also protect the industrial sector, in view of the bigger picture, thus stabilizing the economy in general.
